2xc7000 in MES - VC restoration precedure

1) Initialize a new VC domain by going through the domain setup wizard (enc0)
2) Once done, add the 2nd enclosure (enc1) into the above domain after connected the stacking link between the 2 enclosure
3) And finally, Restore the backup VC config

When you restore a VC Configuration file, we have a “Ignore Enclosure Serial #” checkbox. This only applies to the Base Enclosure, not the Remote Enclosure(s).

So in the event of a disaster recovery, where both enclosures had to be replaced (serial # changes), the new Remote enclosure would have to be configured to use the Serial # of the old Remote Enclosure.
Modifying the Serial # on the new Base Enclosure is optional, because you can check the box to ignore serial # when restoring the configuration.

If the Enclosures are different, a procedure could go something like this with the expectation they are physically cabled correctly, and the VC modules are running the firmware that = the Backup Configuration file

1. Login to OA on new Remote Enclosure (enc1), set ENCLOSURE SERIAL_NUMBER=[old Remote Enclosure Serial#]
2. Login to VCM on new Base Enclosure (enc0), start Domain Import Wizard, select option to Restore from Backup Configuration File / Check Ignore Serial # box, supply Backup CFG file
3. After Import Complete, login to VCM, navigate to the name of the enclosure on Left Panel that is marked with ? or Red X, click on the Enclosure name, select Enclosure Status Tab, select “Re-enter OA Credentials” (I think this is what it is called), but either way it is obvious where to click. Enter OA Credentials
4. Once VCM locates this enclosure, it will proceed with the Import and reload GUI Login screen “Loading Please Wait”… until complete
5. VC Domain will be fully restored and all of the enclosures will be imported at this point.

If the Enclosures are the same enclosures as previous, then just Skip Step 1, because it is not necessary and modify the next steps

1. Clear vcmode on the OAs on both enclosures.
2. Login to VCM on Base Enclosure (enc0), start Domain Import Wizard, select option to Restore from Backup Configuration File / supply Backup CFG file

Note: There is no point in going through the Import Domain Wizard on enc0 like you mention below if you are then going to restore the backup configuration file. I think it would be quicker easier to restore from config file during the Import Wizard.
