interconnect modules supported in c7000 adjacent bays

帖子 SYSTEM » 2012年 10月 17日 12:14 星期三

Robert 写了:Seems like a harmless question.

The LOM functions should be independent.
Customer has two sites. One production, the other disaster recovery. On his disaster recovery he has a c7000 with Cisco 3020 in IC bay1, and a Procurve 6120 (z.14.35) in IC bay2. The blades in this environment are BL460c G6. All works well.

At his production site, they mimicked the interconnect bay arrangement, but have BL465 G7 blades, utilizing NC551i LOMs. The LOM1 port link just fine, but LOM2 to the Procurve show no connected from their Windows 2008 R2 hosts. They updated firmware and drivers in the Windows hosts to 4.1.450.7 and 4.1.450.5 respectively. They also updated Procurve to z.14.35, just to be sure. The symptom did not change.

Hence my question are unlike interconnects supported in adjacent IC bays in a c7000 enclosure.

Monty 写了:My suspicion is the default NC551i LOM port speed is 10Gb – and the Procurve switch is only 1Gb on the downlinks.

It may be a difference in the Cisco 3020 versus Procure 6120 port capabilities.

I believe manually configuring the NC551i LOM driver for 1Gb speed on the second port may resolve the issue.

I believe this is the same workaround that would be needed if you connected that LOM to a 1Gb Ethernet pass-through interconnect module.

Gallig 写了:Are you using 6120G-XG (1-10Gb) or 6120XG (full 10Gb)?

551i have a limitation on the port speed. Both ports have to operate at the same speed.

From Quickspecs NOTE: Each port is autosensing 1 Gb / 10 Gb, and can interoperate with 1 Gb HP BladeSystem c-Class interconnect components. Both ports will operate at the same speed.

If you are using a 6120XG, you can try to force downlink ports (1 to 16) @ 1Gb/s.
If you are using a 6120G/XG, what firmware are you running on the Emulex side? Do you have any messages on the switch?

Robert 写了:This is a 6120XG. I should have noted that in original post.

I will try to set the port speed down to 1G in the CLI. We were not able to configure the port speed to 1G from the GUI management console.

Thanks. Will let you know.
