HP-UX – Add a VLAN interface using SMH

1. Invoke HP SMH.

# smh

2. Click Tools to navigate to the tools page.

3. Select Virtual LANs in the Network Interfaces Configuration tool.

4. Select Add VLAN.

5. Select one of the available interfaces from the list.

NOTE: The available interface may be individual interfaces or aggregates (including failover groups).

6. Enter a VLAN ID.

NOTE: The VLAN ID must match the value expected at the switch.

7. Enter a VLAN name or accept the default.

8. Enter a VPPA or accept the default.

9. Enter a Priority or accept the default.

10. Select a Priority Override Level or accept the default.

11. Enter a ToS or accept the default value.

12. Select a ToS Override Level or accept the default value.

13. In the Configuration Options box, click Saved.

NOTE: If you do not click Saved, the VLAN interface will not survive reboot.

14. Click OK to add the VLAN interface.

NOTE: At this point, you have a VLAN interface that can now be given an IP address.

15. Click the VLAN tab, if necessary, to go to the main VLAN page.

16. Select the new VLAN interface.

17. Select View/Modify IP Attributes. The View/Modify Attributes page is displayed.

18. Modify the necessary IPv4 attributes.

19. Select the Configuration Options you want.

20. Click OK to save the settings. A message will tell you that the IP attributes have been modified successfully.

NOTE: The main VLAN page will display the new IPv4 address.
